Positively Positive – Every Day! How To Create Your Positive Attitude

Do you have a positive attitude? We know living in this world as a positive person can get a little tough. We’re challenged every day to create joy and peace for ourselves as well as our loved ones. Perhaps we start the day off with a stretch and a smile, but turning on the TV or the drive into work can turn a positive day into a negative one in a single moment. And it happens far too often.

So, we have a challenge for ourselves, and for you. It’s a tough one; one that we tend to ignore, neglect, and shoo out the door, say we’ll work on “someday”.

Well that someday is today! Here’s our proposal and it’s not a whopper of a request…it’s really very simple.

Take positive, relaxing time for yourself every day.

Think of it as filling your gas tank up with goodness. Your car can’t run on the wrong fuel and neither can you. If you constantly fill yourself up with subpar energy, it weighs you down, makes you weary and unsatisfied with life. And this comes out in many physically and psychologically negative ways. You can’t take care of others if you don’t take care of yourself first.

So, what can we do to help ourselves succeed?

yoga for health

Find something that relaxes you and revives your spirit.

  • It can be anything from practicing yoga for 20 minutes to watching someone paint a picture (we all love YouTube), meditation or closing our eyes while taking deep, cleansing breaths.
  • Make it something you can do easily at home or in the privacy of your office during your mid-day break. Walk around the block at lunch while you eat that juicy organic Honeycrisp.
  • Remember to take a break away from your computer or desk once per hour. Your eyes and brain will thank you and your mental focus will be clearer.
  • Dedicate yourself to practicing your relaxation techniques regularly. This is your personal, private way to stop at that gas station and fill up.

your inner artist

Create something that feeds your inner hunger.

  • Perhaps you would like to be the painter. Take a class on watercolor painting. Have a passion for yoga? How about a new adventure like beekeeping.
  • Start that hobby that’s been tickling your fancy. Look it up on Dabble – someone will be teaching it!
  • Mentor someone. Teach a class. Help in the community garden or at a local shelter (people or pets). Giving your time and energy is truly the best way to feed yourself. No doubt about it.

soak it away

Remember to enjoy some “down” time.

  • Sit down with a great herbal tea and that secret novel that you’ve been itching to read. You know what it is.
  • Relax in the garden or take a long, soaking bath with some lovely herbs and essential oils.
  • Don’t forget that down time can be social hour with your friends. It’s rejuvenating.
  • Play with your pet. Be it furry, feathery or squeaky, it’s proven to be a great stress reducer – almost as good as chocolate!

Making sure we are cared for spiritually and mentally should be a main focus in each of our lives, and it is far too often neglected and ignored.
